My go-to verse is Hebrews 6:19. When life gets hard I have to remind myself of the hope we have in Jesus.
After being diagnosed with brain cancer my brain started to forget everything. I did a bachelors in Theology and Counselling. That six years of studying was all gone. My brain could not retain anything that I learned.
Luckily God will reminds us of what we need to remember in any given situation and I sometimes give someone a verse that I stand astounded. It’s like where did that just come from?
A few years ago I found myself on my bedroom floor waking up from a seizure. I laid there for hours. I couldn’t remember much of anything and my go-to verse had left my memory, I couldn’t stand so I couldn’t get my bible to find it. The pain was excruciating and I thought that I was going to die on that floor covered in my own vomit.
When I lived through that I got a tattoo on my wrist with an anchor and the words “Hope anchors my Soul Hebrews 6:19”
Anchored In Hope is my Hope story the story of a woman who stood up off the floor in a dark room covered in vomit and called on the promises of God.
It’s the story of a woman who struggles to walk, has no depth perception, struggles to speak, struggles to remember, allergic to the sun. I stood up. I have had many seizures since. The difference is now I can look at my wrist and I remember that I will not die. I will live because my Hope is in Jesus and He has promised me that I will not die until I have accomplished all that He has called me for.
Our lives don’t need to be perfect to see the hand of God in them.
My prayer for us all today is that we keep our eyes focused on God. May we all share the hope that is Jesus with the world.
May you find whatever you need to remind you of your hope and why you need to live with hope anchoring you.
