Good day, Ladies here we are reaching the end of a new day. I am excited about the topic of forgiveness, as we carry on with our reflection… Why are we God’s Masterpiece?
Once we can say we understand and know these steps our course changes, the vision within us changes and the hope of who we are anchored in emerges. Hope and love flow forth from a divine fountain of never-ending mercy and grace. We just need to grab our cup and get right in there.
All of us need a reminder of who we are in Christ Jesus and so I am going to share with you some verses that you can shelter under when you are feeling persecuted.
When you don’t feel good enough.
In Christ I am:
- Forgiven
- Beautiful.
- Valuable.
- Beloved.
- Loved
- Overcome
- Bride
“I am Forgiven”:
Forgiveness on its own is something the human brain has difficulty with, it is easier for us to hold each other accountable for every action, every mistake. It is easy to live a life whereby I walk away from you and who you are and what you have done instead of working towards reconciliation. One of the first things we are taught about who God is is that the LORD is slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, forgiving of iniquity and transgression.
When forgiveness is given it comes at a cost to the giver, a cost of laying down your unforgiveness, laying down your need for justice and finding Jesus on the battlefield of your heart.
Numbers 14:18 – The LORD is slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, forgiving iniquity and transgression, but he will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, to the third and the fourth generation.’
Psalm 103:10–12 – He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.
Psalm 51:1–2 – Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin!
Matthew 6:9–15 – Pray then like this: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Acts 2:38-39 – And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.”
1 John 1:7–10 – But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
Hebrews 9:22 – Indeed, under the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.
Matthew 18:21–22 – Then Peter came up and said to him, “Lord, how often will my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?” Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you seven times, but seventy-seven times.
Luke 23:34 – And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” And they cast lots to divide his garments.
The God who created, names and numbers the stars in the heavens also numbers the hairs of my head. He pays attention to very big things and to very small ones. What matters to me matters to Him, and that changes my life.
– Elisabeth Elliot
As a daughter of the most High God, you and I are forgiven my precious sister in Christ. You are washed clean before your Saviour. Who you were is gone, be gentle on yourself, give yourself the chance to see yourself as you are in God’s eyes, Forgiven…
Dear Lord, thank you that I can know that You have declared me forgiven, Amen
