I have been thinking about this topic for a few weeks now, reflecting on my journey of faith, and where I find myself drawn to the profound beauty of God’s presence, a presence that breathes life into every area, every moment and every promise of my life. Through the ages, God’s breath has carried the whispers of divine covenants and the strength of enduring love. He leaves a yearning in my heart to seek Him more, understand the Word more, and find Him in every promise written, every promise I have experienced.
So today I want to reflect on the awe-inspiring power of His breath as it touches our lives, weaving a story of grace and hope across time From the beginning of the Word, promises that have echoed through the ages, from the patriarchs to the prophets, from the exodus to the exile.
The promises we receive in the breath of God are numerous and profound, reflecting the depth of God’s love and commitment to His creation.
Here are some of the key promises associated with the breath of God:
- Promise of Salvation: The breath of God brings the promise of salvation, offering eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ. “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9)1.
- Promise for a Future: God promises a hopeful future to those who trust in Him. “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11)1.
- Promise to Be with Us: God assures us of His constant presence. “And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:20)1.
- Promise to Meet All Our Needs: The breath of God ensures that our needs will be met according to His riches in glory. “And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19)1.
- Promise to Work All Things for Good: God promises to work everything for the good of those who love Him. “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28)1.
- Promise of Rest: The breath of God offers rest for our souls. “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28)1.
- Promise to Give Us Endurance: God promises to provide strength and endurance to face life’s challenges. “But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint” (Isaiah 40:31)1.
These promises are not just words; they are backed by the character and power of God Himself. They are assurances that come with the breath of life, the same breath that spoke the universe into existence and breathed life into humanity. They are a testament to God’s faithfulness and His desire for us to live a life full of His blessings and presence.

To receive God’s promises (as a child of God who has given their hearts to the Father, who have accepted Him as the only way to heaven, and the only one who can forgive all sin), we are called to respond with faith, obedience, and open hearts.
Let’s explore each aspect:
- Faith:
- Believe: Trust that God’s promises are true. Hebrews 11:6 says, “And without faith, it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.”
- Hold Fast: Even when circumstances seem contrary, hold fast to God’s Word. Romans 4:20-21 speaks of Abraham’s unwavering faith: “No unbelief made him waver concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God, fully convinced that God was able to do what he had promised.”
- Obedience:
- Align with God’s Will: Obey God’s commands and align your life with His will. 1 Peter 1:14: As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance.” Obedience reflects our transformation as children of God.
- 1 John 5:3: “For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome.” Obedience is an expression of our love for God.
- John 15:14: Jesus said, “You are my friends if you do what I command.” Obedience deepens our relationship with Christ.
- Walk in Righteousness: Live a life of integrity and righteousness. Psalm 84:11 assures us, “For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly.”
- Align with God’s Will: Obey God’s commands and align your life with His will. 1 Peter 1:14: As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance.” Obedience reflects our transformation as children of God.
- Open Hearts:
- Seek God: Approach God with open hearts, seeking His presence. Jeremiah 29:13 encourages us, “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”
- Repentance and Humility: Acknowledge your need for God and repent when necessary. James 4:10 reminds us, “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.”
In summary, to receive God’s breath of promises, we must have faith that clings to His Word, obey His commands, and approach Him with open hearts. As we do so, we position ourselves to receive His abundant blessings and fulfill the promises He has spoken over our lives.
