Humbling Ourselves Before God

5 Ephesians 42 Be completely humble and gentle be patient bearing with one another in love.

The bible speaks of humility over 100 times, showing how much value Jesus has put in living a life of humility. Not only are we asked to live a life of humility we are given an example of how we are to live that life.

Jesus wants us to live a life that is humble, not self-serving but with love for each other. The bible speaks of us joyfully going out into the world, called by God for God and His purpose. We are asked to do this in humility and discipline—not in fits and starts, but steadily, pouring ourselves out for each other in acts of love, alert at noticing differences and quick at mending fences.

Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.

– Ephesians 4:2

If we could live a life where we are quick to mend fences, we would not have families/friends holding grudges. Enemies would become friends.

“There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man; true nobility is being superior to your former self.”

― Ernest Hemingway

Dear Lord, obviously there is still so much to overcome inside us. We aim for the mark Father but we miss it by a mile. Help us, Father, live in Your humility, loving and kind, Amen.
