I Am a Royal Priesthood

7

As followers of Christ, understanding our divine identity and the power we possess is crucial for navigating life’s challenges. What a mouthful that sentence was – This topic changed my life profoundly. I know how it feels to be labeled by the world, by colleagues, by family… by people whose opinions can haunt you at night. I faced a struggle between serving God and losing the acceptance of my closest loved ones. But God showed me something amazing in His word. He showed me that I was a royal priesthood, not beneath others, but part of the body of Christ. I was not less because friends walked away. I was worthy, chosen, royal. We are the daughters of a King we are different, not less. We are special, not strange. We are beautiful, not broken. Don’t let the world define you, let God refine you.

  1. Chosen and Set Apart:
    • As followers of Christ, we are not only recipients of salvation but also chosen vessels for God’s work. The apostle Peter reminds us that we are a royal priesthood, set apart to declare God’s praises (1 Peter 2:9).
    • Our heavenly calling involves ministering of God and serving others. Just as priests in the Old Testament interceded on behalf of the people, we have the privilege of interceding for humanity through prayer and acts of love.
  2. Access to God’s Presence:
    • The royal priesthood grants us direct access to God. In the Old Testament, only the high priest could enter the Holy of Holies once a year. But now, through Jesus Christ, we can boldly approach God’s throne (Hebrews 4:16).
    • Our heavenly calling invites us to live in intimacy with God, seeking His guidance, wisdom, and empowerment. As priests, we offer spiritual sacrifices—our worship, obedience, and surrendered lives.
  1. Embrace Your Identity:
    • As believers, we are not merely ordinary Christians; we are a holy nation, a chosen race, and a royal priesthood (1 Peter 2:9). Our identity is rooted in Christ’s work on our behalf.
    • Priesthood power means recognizing that we have direct access to God through Jesus. We don’t need intermediaries; we can approach the throne of grace boldly (Hebrews 4:16).
    • In life’s challenges, remember your identity: you are a minister of reconciliation, called to proclaim God’s excellencies and bring light to a dark world.
  2. Serve God in All Areas of Life:
    • Our vocations—whether as bankers, pastors, teachers, or stay-at-home parents—are all part of our priestly service. Every task can be an act of worship.
    • Martin Luther emphasized that all Christians are part of the spiritual estate. We serve one another, united by baptism, faith, and the Gospel (1 Corinthians 12).

Hebrews 4:16 reminds us: “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” As women, we can approach that throne with confidence, knowing that we are part of a royal lineage. Our prayers are heard, our faith is potent, and our influence extends far beyond our immediate circumstances.

In conclusion, the royal priesthood empowers women to navigate life’s challenges with grace, courage, and unwavering faith. As we study the scriptures, seek personal revelation, and embrace our divine identity, we can draw upon this sacred power to bless our lives and the lives of those around us. Let us rise as daughters of God, fully aware of our spiritual heritage, and use our priesthood authority to bring light and healing to a world in need.
