I Am Beloved of Christ

You are beloved

Morning ladies, it is so wonderful sitting before my Father in the best place in the world. On the water in the Western Cape, South Africa. I am sure that many of you like me have faced some hectic stuff over the past month. I pray that as we share in this revelation this morning you will be encouraged as much as I was.

This teaching is so exciting that I am really excited to get started. I thought to start this reflection off by looking at the difference between being loved vs being beloved.

Definition. Beloved is an adjective to describe the people we love deeply and dearly, while love is an adjective to describe someone or something we love.

Beloved and loved are two adjectives we use to describe people and things we love. We can generally use these adjectives interchangeably. However, beloved is more dearly and intense than loved. Therefore, you can use it to describe people you love dearly, like your parents, spouse, or children.

To become beloved implies you have a loved one who loves you perhaps a parent meaning you are not an orphan In Exodus we read how Israel was left as an orphan abandoned by her parents and left to die, but God took pity on her and adopted her into his family to find, shelter, freedom and rest.

But that was not enough for our Father our Lord wanted us to really know how much He was willing to pay to bring us home.  That means we need to understand the real meaning of being “Beloved”. This is an earnest and intimate fatherly term used by God the Father at the Jordan River to describe His son Jesus. The Bible speaks of Jesus’s baptism in the Jordan River, Mark 1:10–11 “He saw the heavens parting and the Spirit descending upon Him like a dove. Then a voice came from heaven, ‘You are My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased”.

“He saw the heavens parting and the Spirit descending upon Him like a dove. Then a voice came from heaven, ‘You are My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased”.

– Mark 1:10-11

Is it possible to imagine that we could be cherished to that degree? Ephesians 1:5-6 he predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace [Unmerited favour], with which he has blessed us in the Beloved.” WOW WOW WOW doesn’t this just blow your mind? You and I cannot make ourselves accepted, it is impossible. We can only become received through our Father’s unmerited favour [Grace]. The Greek word charitoo or its root word charis meaning grace simply means highly graced/favoured in other words, you are highly favoured inside the Beloved!

If we look at the next verse in Ephesians 1:7 we read the following: Eph 1:7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace.  Inside the grace of our Father, we have found redemption we are favoured in the beloved.

Ephesians 1:8-10 which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight 9 making known3  to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ 10 as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.

The orphan is now an adopted believer, the pardoned sinner, praise can only be given by a gracious Father. God’s love chose this method of redemption, showing us that He did not spare his own Son so that believers could embrace His salvation. This method does not focus on evil but the believer’s actions, as well as his words, declare the praises of Divine mercy.

Today you can know that to find favour in the beloved means that your Father is well pleased with you. Your dad does not see you in your shortcomings your failure, He sees you inside the perfection of His beloved son who lived the life we couldn’t live, died the death we could not die, and rose again to bring us into redemption with his Father.  So that when God pulls open the heavens and looks down at His son, He already knew that you and I who have chosen Christ would be found favoured inside of His beloved!

Without Jesus, your favour disappears. You can only be in Christ when you have come to a place where choosing Jesus is like choosing air, it’s the only path you have because living without Jesus can literally be death because then life is not worth living. He is life!! He is my choice!
