Rachel – When Longing Lingers

6

Morning Ladies, If you’ve ever sat in a room full of people and still felt the ache of something missing… if you’ve ever smiled while silently wondering if God still hears your prayers…If you’ve ever watched others receive what you’ve longed for and whispered, “What about me?”…this post is for you.

You’re not alone. And you’re not forgotten. we have all been there.. Let’s talk about Rachel.

For the woman who’s waiting for her breakthrough – She was beautiful… She was cherished… She was deeply loved by Jacob.

And yet… she was barren.

Rachel had what many women long for, romantic love, devotion, and attention. But she didn’t have the one thing her heart cried out for: a child.

And that ache ran deep.

“When Rachel saw that she was not bearing Jacob any children, she became jealous of her sister.” – Genesis 30:1

Her sister Leah, the one Jacob didn’t choose, was bearing son after son. And Rachel’s heart broke with every birth announcement. She cried. She pleaded. She even said, “Give me children, or I’ll die.” (Genesis 30:1)

Rachel’s story reminds us that even the loved can feel empty. Even the favoured can feel forgotten. Even the blessed can battle bitterness.

But then – after years of waiting, aching, and praying – God moved. “Then God remembered Rachel; He listened to her and enabled her to conceive.” – Genesis 30:22

He remembered her. Not because He had forgotten. But because the time had come.

She gave birth to Joseph – the son who would one day save nations, preserve Israel, and carry the favour of God.

Prayer: When Longing Runs Deep

God of remembrance, You are the One who saw Rachel’s tears. You heard her cries in the night, You felt the ache of her waiting, And You remembered her.

Today, I bring You my own longing. The places where I feel empty. The prayers I’ve whispered for years. The dreams that feel delayed, And the ache that sometimes feels too heavy to carry.

I know You haven’t forgotten me. Even when silence stretches long, Even when others seem to receive what I’ve been praying for, Even when envy tries to steal my joy… You are still working. You are still faithful. You are still writing a story I cannot yet see.

Help me to trust You in the waiting. To worship You in the ache. To celebrate others without losing hope for myself. To believe that You remember me, Not because I’ve earned it, But because You are good.

Let my heart rest in Your timing. Let my soul be anchored in Your love. Let my life reflect the truth: That desire is not weakness, And longing is not shame.

You are the God who remembers. And I am remembered. Amen.
