Every time you fail, you learn something. I guess that should make me a genius!
When Covid arrived on our doorstep in 2020, it was the culmination of a perfect storm that closed the doors of our business and left us basically destitute. In spite of having successful careers, the life we knew was in tatters. We felt like we failed everyone. Our employees were forced to find other jobs. We lost our home and everything in it. We couldn’t make this right no matter how we looked at it.
We were in a hopeless situation until God gave us our sailboat – Anchored in Hope.
If anyone’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire.
1 Corinthians 3:15
So now we live a much simpler life on Anchored in Hope, and you may even have heard about us. We are so much more in touch with nature and our Creator. We have become so dependent on Him and the wonderful thing about it is that the stresses of our previous life have been taken away from us. We now have the time to be in full-time ministry – a long-standing dream – and we get to sail the ocean!
We have survived what was maybe the biggest failure of our lives and now we get to experience the pure exhilaration of dancing on the waves while dolphins play in front of our bow. I literally shrieked with joy when we had a hundred whales breaching all around our boat – how do you describe that to someone? God has turned this failure into our story of hope!
Dear Lord Jesus, in my wildest dreams I could not have come up with a better story for my life. Thank you for letting me experience the awe and wonder of Your creation. Thank you for turning my failure into hope. Please encourage my sister who is struggling and give her her own story of hope. May Your name be glorified in our failure. Amen.
