Someone once looked me in the eye and said that she found people who “walk around with the bible under their arms” are insincere. She was referring to the fact that among other things, I made a point of telling her how God was using her and her family to be a blessing to us.
She did add that somehow she thought that this was different. It was not long after that when she gave herself to the Lord. It was so beautiful to witness how the Holy Spirit transformed her into someone who “walked around with the bible under her arm”. I don’t know if anything I said opened the door, but I don’t have to. The Holy Spirit will always get the credit.
As children of God, we represent the Kingdom of Heaven. We have been given power and authority in Jesus’ name. We may be the only contact someone has ever made with the Kingdom. Isn’t it important that people know who we represent? Our mouths should be overflowing with praise and thanksgiving for what God has done for us.
Let God fuel your conversations. When we talk with people about what God has done for us, the Holy Spirit will convict their hearts with the knowledge that they need Jesus. It may not be you who finally leads them into a relationship with Jesus, but one day God will show you the lives that you changed.
Father, I am so thankful for the price you paid for me on the cross. Lord Jesus, You have shown me that you were willing to give everything for me. I am giving myself to be Your servant and represent You here on earth. Let my mouth overflow with praise and gratitude for the freedom that you have given me. Take away my fear and shyness. Make me bold and let me be a true disciple who “makes disciples of all nations.” Amen
