Walk In Faith and Not By Sight

Morning Ladies, I hope you have had a good week so far? This Tuesday morning I want to look at this verse and how much it can change our lives.

For we walk by faith, not by sight

2 Corinthians 5:7

Paul had suffered a lot for his faith, he needed every ounce of courage he could muster. He knew how much his suffering and his work, will bring to the kingdom of God: The Holy Spirit warned Paul that he would face all sorts of persecutions because he chooses God above all things:

  • In Acts, we read how Paul is persecuted for following Jesus and preaching about Jesus. At the beginning of Acts he already tells us that “The Holy Spirit testifies to me:
    1. In every city that imprisonment and persecutions are waiting for me,” – Acts 20:23,
    2. He is kidnapped – Acts 21:27,
    3. Beaten – Acts 21:30-31; 23:3,
    4. Threatened – Acts 22:22; 27:42,
    5. Arrested many times – Acts 21:33; 22:24,31; 23:35; 28:16,
    6. Accused in lawsuits – Acts 21:34; 22:30; 24:1-2; 25:2,7; 28:4,
    7. Interrogated – Acts 25:24-27,
    8. Ridiculed – Acts 26:24,
    9. Ignored – Acts 27:11,
    10. Shipwrecked – Acts 27:41
    11. Bitten by a viper – Acts 28:3

The thing that kept Paul focused was that he lived by faith and not by sight. If he had focused on everything around him, he would fail and not have been able to accomplish all that God had called him for.

BUT

Because he could focus on the end goal, to accomplish all that he was called for. He could live knowing Jesus was his Hope and his future.

Dear Lord, Please help us to stay focused on you and not live our lives by sight but to hold onto Your everlasting mercy and grace. Help us to live by faith all the days of our lives. Amen
